On Tuesday, February 23rd at 7pm, join library staff and other readers for a Zoom book discussion of Saving Ruby King written by Chicago author, Catherine Adel West about an incident in which Ruby King's mother is found murdered in their home in Chicago's South Side, the police dismiss it as another act of violence in a black neighborhood. But for Ruby, it's a devastating loss that leaves her on her own with her violent father. In a relentless quest to save Ruby, her close friend Layla uncovers the murky loyalties and dangerous secrets that have bound their families together for generations. Only by facing this legacy of trauma head-on will Ruby be able to break free. 


On Monday, March 1st at 6pm, register to join the author of Saving Ruby King, CATHERINE ADEL WEST to discuss her book, her life as a writer and more! West graduated with both her BA and MA in journalism from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. West was born and raised in Chicago. Saving Ruby King is her debut novel. Wear your party hat because we are celebrating Women’s History Month, Black History Month, and Catherine’s birthday month at this event!  


Registration with a valid email address is required. A Zoom meeting login will be emailed at 6pm Central time, 1 hour before our book discussion begins at 7pm.
